SOFT TISSUE RECONSTRUCTION AT TEETH AND IMPLANTS USING MINIMALLY INVASIVE TECHNIQUES, COLLAGEN MATRICIES, AND GROWTH FACTORS

Several soft tissue deformities affect natural teeth and dental implants. These conditions often result in patients’ esthetic concerns but can also negatively affect periodontal and peri-implant tissue stability and health. Recent evidence highlights the importance of soft tissue phenotype augmentation for improving esthetics, health and patient comfort when treating gingival recessions and implant esthetic complications. While several techniques have been shown to be successful in soft tissue augmentation at teeth and implant sites, minimally invasive approaches with xenogeneic collagen matrices and biologic agents, such as recombinant human platelet-derived growth factor-BB, have been more and more advocated by clinicians and patients. The present lecture will focus on the contemporary soft tissue grafting for addressing – in a minimally invasive manner – patient concerns around teeth and dental implants.
